A chocolate truffle is a type of chocolate confectionery, traditionally made with a chocolate ganache center coated in chocolate or cocoa powder, usually in a spherical, conical, or curved shape. Other fillings may replace the ganache: cream, melted chocolate, caramel, nuts, almonds, berries, or other assorted sweet fruits, nougat, fudge, or toffee, mint, chocolate chips, marshmallow, and popularly, liquor.

The "European truffle" is made with syrup and a base made up of cocoa powder, milk powder, fats, and other such ingredients to create an oil-in-water type emulsion.
The "Swiss truffle" is made by combining melted chocolate into a boiling mixture of dairy cream and butter, which is poured into molds to set before sprinkling with cocoa powder. Unlike the previous two kinds of truffles, these have a very short shelf-life and must be consumed within a few days of making.
Nowadays, all over the globe, chocolate is eaten in various, solid forms such as truffles, white chocolate, dark chocolate, milk chocolate and as a topping on biscuits and cakes. Possibly the most luxurious form of all- the chocolate truffle- has a rather recent history. A French invention, the original chocolate truffle was merely a ball of ganache, chocolate and cream, often flavoured and rolled in cocoa. From this it has been developed with many ganache fillings and liqueurs and has been coated with different nuts, paprika, peppercorns or simply solid chocolate. My boyfriend gave me a box of Godiva chocolates truffles for Valentine’s Day and I sort of let it slip that I’m addicted chocolate. So every time he does something that hurts me, he apologizes by having some Godiva chocolates delivered to my house. And I can’t help but give in, eat a chocolate truffle and call him to say he’s forgiven. Chocolate makes me nice and pliant. I just hate that he has found another way to make me bend to his will.
I love all kinds of chocolates, and have tasted plenty of assortments from different countries and local stores. But Godiva chocolate truffles beats them all by a mile. It’s milky, rich and sweet. The way it melts in your mouth and then fills you with a sense of relaxation. It might just be me, but Godiva chocolate truffles is to die for. The minute I open the box, I can already smell the rich aroma and I can’t help but savor it until I finally can’t resist the urge to pop one in my mouth. And then another and another. Until I realize there’s non left, and I just crave for more. It makes me nuts
that a chocolate this good can be bought from a store. I thought I had to travel to Europe to get one of these. I shouldn’t have wasted my easting Hershey bars that make me want to puke after I eat
2 bars. With Godiva chocolate, you don’t feel bloated at all. My favorite would be the dark chocolate

Customers to Godiva Chocolatier in Penn Square Mall can enjoy a truffle on the house from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday.

The chocolate retailer will be giving away treats from its new Legacy truffle collection, representing flavors from Godiva’s 60-year history, such as Original Dark Chocolate Truffle, Hazelnut Truffle and Crème Brulee Truffle.

Free Godiva Chocolate Truffles in any Bay Area Shop

The sights and sounds make it obvious. It's that time of year again. You can't miss it -- Godiva Chocolate Truffle Month!
To celebrate the special coco on the calendar, the chocolatier is giving away their mouth-watering Godiva chocolate truffles. Just go into any Bay Area shop starting at 5 p.m. today and ask them for a free Godiva chocolate truffles and-- voila! -- it's yours.
Go ahead, make a day of free chocolate. Before you get to Godiva, stop by See's Candies or Ghiradelli, right there on the waterfront. Both of those shops hand out freebies, too.
Did we mention they're free? But, do you really need an excuse to have a chocolate snack?
